Collegewide Assessment Committee (CWAC)
Significant learning points:
Since I joined the Collegewide Assessment
Committee, we have been focused on creating a plan to implement the
recommendations in the Middle States Self-Study. This includes aligning assessment practices
across all campuses and developing a new assessment management system. Through this process I have come to
appreciate the cultural differences at each campus, but it is clear that we are
still more alike than we are different.
I have also learned that it’s hard to implement significant change,
particularly when it comes to institutional processes.
Leadership characteristics enhanced:

communication skills – This was essential for communicating our plan with the
various deans and directors.
#6 - Exhibits a strong sense of team spirit – In order to align assessment practices across all campuses, we had to work together and do a lot of compromising.
#8 - Is able to see the "Big Picture" – This experience has helped me gain a solid understanding of the multiple divisions and academic programs we have at Delaware Tech.
#21 - Is knowledgeable of fundraising, strategic planning, and legal issues in higher education – Implementing a new assessment management system required a lot of strategic planning.
