Leadership Philosophy 2013:
As
a department chair, I try to lead by example in terms of integrity,
instructional excellence, teamwork, and communication.
- In everything I do, I strive to get it right and I expect the
same from my department.
- I
expect my faculty to be great instructors who are focused on student
success. To that end, my job is to focus on continual improvement –
ways to make our pedagogy, curriculum, and academic support centers more
effective.
- I
believe we accomplish more by working as a team where we can leverage our
individual strengths because no one can be the best at everything, but together
we can be the best at anything.
- I
encourage open and honest communication. I value the ideas and opinions of my
faculty and take them into consideration when making decisions. I
also want to know about problematic issues or mistakes as soon as possible, so I
can help remedy the situation if necessary.
Leadership Philosophy 2015:
My core leadership values are still the
same, but through the Leadership Development program, I have had the
opportunity to learn about and observe many different leadership styles.
I realize that most of my leadership is situational because I adapt my
leadership style depending on the task and the group involved in
order to be more effective. I have had the chance to display these characteristics through many roles and committee work at Delaware Tech. Click on the button below to see how these roles have helped develop me into an educational leader.
