Outside Presentation
Significant learning points:
On
Monday, May 11, 2015, I had the pleasure of giving a presentation to the Milton
Lion’s club. The group was very
receptive to the presentation, particularly since a large majority of them
still perceived Delaware Tech as a vocational school. They were pleasantly surprised by the number
of articulation agreements we have with senior institutions as well as some of
our new programs like aviation maintenance and energy management.
During the question and answer session, there was significant discussion about starting a campus club (college-level Lion’s club) on the Owens campus. Since the club’s focus is on community service through the provision of vision and hearing screening for school-aged children, loaning medical equipment like walkers and hospital beds, and building wheel-chair ramps, we agreed that a number of Owens campus programs had students who would benefit from participating in such a club.
It’s clear that the members of the Milton Lion’s club appreciate the role Delaware tech plays in helping people improve their lives through education. Click on the button below to view the May 2015 newsletter where I was acknowledged for my efforts for promoting Delaware Tech.
