Graduation Ceremony
Significant learning points:
As a faculty member, I have the privilege
of participating in the graduation ceremony every year. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the students and
their friends/families swell with pride and celebrate their accomplishments. It
serves as an annual reminder of why we’re all here – to help students achieve
their educational goals.
Behind the scenes, it takes an incredible amount of teamwork and planning to execute a successful graduation ceremony. Whether it’s planning for the event, creating the programs, certifying graduates, setting up the ceremony space, feeding the graduates during practice, or taking pictures, every division plays a vital role in this annual event. |
Leadership characteristics enhanced:
#6 – Exhibits a strong sense of team
spirit – One year, a major storm came through and destroyed the ceremony space
the day before graduation – the tent, chairs, and equipment were decimated. We had less than 24 hours to clean up the
mess and get a new space set up, but everyone came together and did whatever it
took to get the job done.
